Let me talk a bit about Joe Polish, owner of Piranha Marketing, we think ELF. He loves ELF and recommends that everyone turn their business into one. ELF stands for Easy, Lucrative and Fun and Joe is all about that. He’s super dynamic, a great speaker and fun to listen to. He has a very interesting story of how he went from carpet cleaner to marketing genius. Of course it starts out that he was broke, with a business that it loosing thousands of dollars monthly. Somehow he hires famed marketing great Gary Halpert for a private two day coaching and presto, his life changes and he’s on board.
Strategy # 1
Throughout his presentation we are shown photos and videos of Joe with one celebrity after the other. There he is with former President Bill Clinton, Virgin’s founder Sir Richard Branson, Jay Leno, Bill Gates, and Ivanka Trump, just to name a few. Talk about credibility! What better way to establish credibility than to be seen such a celebrity line up. #1 – Link yourself to credibility.
Selling is what you do face-to-face. Marketing is the act of getting them to first listen. You can and should remove the fear in advance through marketing.
Theatre is impact. Add theatre to your marketing. I love this one. It works time and time again and in every industry. I think we are under playing our theatrical opportunities more often than not. Advice – Ham it up a bit.
Strategy # 4
Don’t worry about offending the dogs while you’re trying to attract the foxes. We need to remember that if a message is so PC as to not tweak anyone, chances are it will attract no one.
Strategy # 5
What you need is a hungry crowd. Ever notice that when people really want something, price is no object? Hint – If they are asking how much you charge, you’re not marketing properly.
It was a Mob Scene!
Check out the above photo. Not for nothing, but Joe Polish had at least 600 people in line to buy his products. The line went all the way around the huge ballroom that we were in. Not only that the people in line were 3-5 deep pushing to get to the sales area. I’ve NEVER seen anything like it. Sure it was a great offer but the set up made everyone HUNGRY!
Business owners need to learn these systems of successful sales. They are based on psychology and proven to work every time. No matter what business you are in, you need to remember that you are in the marketing business.
