Sure we all know that the follow-up is a major component in the sale, but are we aware that it actually determines whether the sale happens or not. But we’re so busy and have some much on our plates, we really don’t have all that much time to keep the conversation going with our prospects. The numbers are really scary when it comes to lack of follow-up. When you read them, you’re going to want to cry.
A mere 25 % of those who come into your funnel will by within the first 6 months.
The second quarter will purchase after the six month but prior to the one year mark.
The next 25% will open those purse strings during the 12 – 18 month period.
The final group will buy after the eighteen month mark.
How much attention do we pay to those who don’t buy within the first 6 months? Many people, myself included, don’t stay with them nearly long enough.
I’M NOT SURE WHY
I’m not sure if it’s ego, anger or a feeling of rejection. It could be lack of time, my focus has to stay on the urgent things that Saltar has going on, or maybe it’s that I just haven’t been thinking in a strategic way about lead nurturing.
FUELING MY COMPETITION’S GROWTH – NOT EXACTLY PART OF MY BUSINESS MODEL
I honestly believe it’s all of the above for myself and others. It’s a variety of reasons and the truth is they really don’t matter. What does matter is that we realize that too many people are going to the competition, thus funding their organization instead of our own. The bottom line is that whether we want to admit it or not, is that we’re loosing money. BIG money is walking out our door.
