A SIMPLE STRATEGY TO SPICE UP YOUR LIFE. ASK THIS QUESTION…
April 25, 2012
As we sat having breakfast in the hotel overlooking the ocean, I turned to Rachel and said that I am amazed at the journey I have been on in my life. Rachel’s answer, “We’ve only just begun.” (Gotta love Rachel!)
I was born with two passions. The love of travel and the quest for knowledge have been with me since I can remember.
On the go
My love of travel has taken me to some very remote places on this planet. Some beautiful, others maybe not so much but all interesting. I’ve walked the Great Wall of China, slept in the night market in Marrakesh and watched the whales migrate in Australia. Having been to over thirty countries, I still haven’t done it all.
My future goals include, but are by no means limited to, exploring the Sahara on a camel with a Berber guide, meeting the nomads in Mongolia and living in Spain for a time. Oh, I would also like to experience the middle-east, a true passion of mine. Most people think I am crazy to want to do this but I have always been drawn to Islamic culture.
Never a thief, however I have been known to steal

As a very young child, I “stole” flip flops from the campers next to us. I was three years old and I thought that if I wore their shoes, I would be able to speak French also. I didn’t realize that taking their shoes was wrong, I just thought speaking French would be great. My parents were not happy with me, as you can imagine and, shoes or no shoes, I still haven’t learned to speak the language.
In the know
Knowledge is power, I’ve heard it said many times. But I’m not sure that is my motivation. What charges me up about learning is the fun of knowing something else. I love new ideas and the concepts that spring to mind as a result of those new ideas. Like fireworks exploding on 4th of July, I am amazed at the surprise that I feel at the blasts, the brilliance of color that explodes in the air and the excitement I feel as the bursts suddenly appear, then quickly fade. Ideas are exactly like that. They come out of nowhere, live very powerfully and, if not acted upon, die a quick death.
Business as unusual
The real reason I love my business so much is that it allows me to experience my two true loves simultaneously. I am able to travel unexpected journey’s with my clients and am constantly learning new things. No two days are alike and my clients are on different paths. What could be more exciting than that? It’s a constant challenge and I’m running to keep up with them, while pushing them forward.
Case in point
Here I am with client/friend/supporter Rachel Kerr Schneider. We’re enjoying our day waiting to start our retreat at Jack Canfield’s home, this evening. Rachel didn’t even think about it when I sent the invite to her. Always ready for a new adventure, and eager to meet Jack, Rachel was raring to go.
What and why
Many of you have asked us what we are planning to get from this retreat. Others have simply asked, “Why, are you doing that?” Well, I’m not sure what I’m going to get from this experience. Honestly, I just don’t know. I’ll have to let you know as it comes to me. (Stay tuned, I’ll be blogging about it during the week.)
The why is easily answered. It’s my standard answer for most of my actions, many of the places I’ve visited and the educational opportunities, I’ve seized. The answer to “Why” is almost always, “WHY NOT?”
Sometimes the best things in life just come your way. I think spending time at Jack Canfield’s home on Maui is one of those things.
A simple strategy to spice up your life. Ask this question….
The next time some fabulous opportunity comes along, don’t ask yourself, “Why?” Instead ask yourself, “Why not?”
AND DO IT!!!!
